EAR has financed two projects as a
part of the first phase of
development of Telemedicine in
Kosova. |

The first Phase involved the
establishment of the Telemedicine
Centre in Prishtina at the
University Clinical Centre as the
portal for telecommunications and
the centre for training of
physicians, nurses, and other
technical personnel. This phase has
been accomplished with funds from
European Agency for Reconstruction
(EAR), and implemented by "Bernard
Brunhes International" and
"Telemedicine Association of Kosova" |

The of Bureau of Educational and
Cultural Affairs of U.S. Department
of State |
The
completion of Phase II of
Telemedicine program of Kosova was
officially inaugurated in Prishtina
on October 18, 2007
at the Telemedicine Center of Kosova
with a ribbon cutting ceremony by
Mr. Fatmir Sejdiu, President of
Kosova, Dr Rifat Latifi, President
of the International Virtual
E-Hospital Foundation and Director
of Telemedicine Program of Kosova,
Mr. Sadik Idrizi, Minister of Health
of Kosova and Ms. Karyn
Posner-Mullen, Director of Public
Affairs for the US Office in
Prishtina in the presence of Chris
Miner, from Bureau of Education and
Cultural Affairs the Department of
States of U.S and many other guest
and dignitaries from Kosova. Six
Regional Telemedicine (Gjilan,
Prizren, Gjakove, Peje, Skenderaj
and Mitrovice) are now complete. The
event was attended by over 150
medical and education officials
including the Rector of the
University, Executive Director of
the University Clinical Center of
Kosova, Dean of the Medical School,
Commander of the medical units at
Camp Bondsteel, Kosova military
medical personnel and a large number
of the press. |

In
the third phase the health system of
Kosovo will be fully integrated by
information, instructional and
consultative system, and supported
by telecommunications. This phase
will ensure the electronic highway
which will manage the flow of
medical information by using the IT
technology. |
